This is the new A5 Sportback, a five door hatchback based on the A5 coupe that debuted last year. If you happen to live in Europe, however, the Sportback will have some very compelling powertrain options. At launch, 6 engines will be available including three diesels. TDI engines in 2.0-liter four cylinder, and 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter V6 configurations are available. The 170 hp 2.0-liter is rated at 45.2 mpg (U.S.) on the EU combined driving cycle. A 2.0-liter TFSI gas four banger is also available at 180 and 211 hp outputs. All three of the four-cylinder units now have standard auto start-stop system when equipped with the manual transmission. Being an Audi, quattro all wheel drive is of course available and the 2.0 and 3.2-liter gas engines and the 3.0-liter TDI all get a 7-speed dual clutch S-Tronic gearbox in that configuration. More powertrain options will be added after launch, including the 143 hp version of the 2.0 TDI. An Audi press release is after the jump.
